Review
Plot: I haven't read a lot of dystopia/post-apocalyptic, but this book has changed my sights on the genre. The book follows Olivya and Mikah who both have special abilities during a time of a great pandemic. As they try and find a cure after Olivya sees her mother is sick, they have to fight new creatures and handle their abilities to find the cure they've been looking for. There is action around every corner and is descriptive enough to let the reader imagine what the fight would look like. The imagery in the book is so vivid I could see when Olivya was walking through the streets or when she first sees Mikah. It is a story that consists of a lot of technology and characters that are different creatures. There are very unique names and descriptions for each one that you will get confused. However, as the story progresses, you will be able to know whose who and what's what. The plot is very complex and suspenseful that I couldn't stop reading once I started. Olivya and Mikah bring a certain zest to the book that adds to the unfolding of the plot.
 
Characters: Olivya - Olivya is a African-American and Japanese girl, which I was glad to see. It is rare to find minority main characters and Michelle and Clark did such a good job on it. They gave her enough dignity to make her embrace her uniqueness but also not let it rule the plot line. I loved her courageousness and bravery that she had from the beginning. She doesn't let anyone tell her what to do and she protects those she cares for.
Mikah - Mikah is different from many other love interests I've read. He's coped up and barely has many people to talk to and even then they're not the best people to confide in. He knows only the life he was born into and even though he's different from the rest, he still doesn't know if he is good or bad. This comes as a constant reminder of him whenever he sees Olivya. He's choosing between what life he wants to live and what's best for them.
 
Cover: The cover does not do the book the justice it deserves. I love the integration of the lightning and DNA strand to serve the purpose of what the pandemic is.
 
Overall Rating: I'm giving this book a three out of four. It is a fantastic dystopia book and gives a look at what a pandemic can create and what the healthy would have to do for the sick. It also does a nice job of creating a new world for us and new creatures to think about. There are many characters in the book, but it is only a small flaw in a wonderful plot.

Plot: After much research, I was finally to obtain this book at the library. I was excited to finally another series with Shadowhunters. Clockwork Angel is the first installment in the Infernal Devices series and it follows Tessa who just arrived to England. Right when she gets there, she's kidnapped by the Dark Sisters and told that she has the power to shift into other people. She only complies because she hears that they have her brother and they'll let her see him if she goes along with their plan. Before long, she is rescued by Shadowhunters and taken to the Institute where she meets Will and Jem. They have a bond between one another, Jem tries to keep Will out of trouble and Will tries to care for Jem when he's sick. The book follows their search for Tessa's brother, a plan that one Downworlder is developing, and a budding romance. This gives a whole knew take on Shadowhunters and how they lived in a different location and time period, but still let's the characters have the same snark and spunkiness we expect from Clare's books.
 
Characters: Tessa - Tessa is a character I easily related to. She was used to her life before that the discoveries she makes about herself and her family are hard for her to accept. She isn't used to how the Shadowhunters live and the attitudes of some of them...*cough* Will. I definitely started to love reading about her and her emotions throughout each experience.
Will and Jem - Will is definitely irritating but lovable. I did get tired of him pushing away Tessa and his actions towards her, however, there was his sense of charm that seemed to keep me hooked. Jem is too cute and compassionate in this book. I loved when he would stick up for himself as well as stick up for Will and Tessa. Even though he is not fully healthy, he still can stand on his own and help those he cares for.
 
Cover: I always love Cassandra's covers for her books. This one reminds me somewhat of Clockwork Orange with London in the background and the boy wearing a top hat. To me, I see that the boy is Will and his tipping of the top hat shows his charm even though he is a Shadowhunter.
 
Overall Rating: I'm giving this book a four out of four. I absolutely loved the book and couldn't think of a better plot line to start off a new series. It does have Clare's signatures like a possible love triangle and elaborate characters we will fall in love with. If you're thinking of reading this series and have read MI, I would happily say to hurry and get this series. If you haven't read MI, this series isn't twisted into the plot line of MI, you can read either one first and not be lost in the other.

Plot: I was so excited when I was able to finally get my hands on this book and get closer to being up-to-date with the series. The book quickly goes into where we left off in In Cold Blood, Heather and the gang continue to try to get back to New Orleans and figuring out how to control Dante's power. It was definitely filled with twist and turns that I was hoping for. We find out more about what Dante is and how his mind works along with his developing powers. I loved the parts where Dante flashed between reality and dreams because we got to see how bad Dante is becoming. I could feel myself getting tense and anxious from Dante's mind and could understand why he has constant seizures and migraines. But, Heather is his light, and when she was around him, it was hard not to see why he loves to be around her and the silence she brings. However, I didn't get as much romance as I wanted. The romantic scenes were nice and delicious, but it wasn't enough compared to the other books. Phoenix is always very elegant with her books with creating a plot along with a few steamy scenes, but I wish there were a few more. But, this book is still enough to keep me craving for the fourth installment.

Characters: Heather - Heather is an amazing character. I do love how she has progressed from being distant and closed off to being more emotional and letting not only Dante but others inside her head. She is very protective of Dante and that seemed more prevalent in this installment. We could see that she did have a jealous side, but it was never spoken too much about to discover her insecurities.
Dante - Of course, we all love Dante! (It's hard not to.) But, I felt a little distant from him. I did love the scenes with seeing into his mind and dreams. However, when it came to his relationship with Heather, it didn't seem like it was his priority. I wouldn't expect it to be though. He's trying to figure out what he is and how to control it along with finding out what happened with Lucien and getting away from almost every creature on earth.

Cover: I love the colors of this color. It is very dark and sinister in the background with Heather on the cover. I don't really like the wig the model is wearing, but I do like how the covers usually translate the characters.

Overall Rating: I will give this book a three out of four. I absolutely love this series and can't wait to see what Phoenix has in store for us fans! This installment was a great bridge to what is to come in the series. I was shocked by some of the turns the book takes, but it's definitely nice turns. The plot is progressing with not only people finding out about Dante being a True Blood and Fallen Maker but also him evolving into his own. This is a must read series and I commend Phoenix for such an amazing series!

Review

Plot: The book follows a vampire-human hybrid, Vladimir Tod. He leads a normal life except for the bloody snack packs, morning routine of applying sunblock, and still grieving over the loss of his parents. The first book was an incredibly good read. I was hesitant to read the book because it is in a guy's perspective and doesn't have as much romance as I usually like. However, Heather did an amazing with Vladimir. He is still in middle school, but has already seen and knows many things. He is still growing up and immature, but has enough maturity from his experiences to see the logical option in a situation. He is suspicious of his new English teacher and trying to find out his father's past. I felt Vladimir was so lonely during all the events because he is the only hybrid and is the only vampire he knows of. It was hard to see him struggling to figure out every mystery with also having to find himself. But, he does have people who love him: Henry and Aunt Nelly. They have their flaws, but support and love Vladimir. Along with them, I see Meredith, Vlad's crush, as a growing love interest, but I feel disconnected with her. She wasn't someone I truly felt would compliment Vlad. However, Mr. Otis is the most intriguing character of the bunch and causes everything to flip upside down for Vlad. At first, I wondered what would become of his and Vlad's relationship and what he wanted with him, but by the last 50 or so pages, everything starts to unravel.

Characters: Vladimir - Vlad is a great main character. He's not perfect and not everything he does is completely perfect, which makes him more realistic rather than making him perfect because he's a vampire. I did lose a little sympathy for him when I found out that he was one of those male characters that is crushing over the popular girl. But, as I was reading, I could understand why he would like Meredith and even though he likes her, there's a possibility they might not end up together because of what he is and what he craves. Therefore, he should get the chance to crush over the popular girl. Other than that, I do love Vlad. He seems to start maturing by the end of the book, but still is a teenager. He's not done with the threat of the vampire world and family secrets just yet.

Cover: The cover is simple and eye-appealing. I do love the little vampiric smiley, I don't know if that ever comes up in the series or it's just the series' symbol. However, it's cute and I would definitely buy a shirt if that was on there. My only complaint is that I wish the cover oriented around what happens in the book, but looking at the whole series' covers, it's better with just seeing what Vladimir looks like in that certain grade.

Overall Rating: I'm giving this book a four out of four. This is my first four out of four in awhile. There weren't known mistakes I could see in this book. It was a great read and I look forward to seeing what the series has in store. Brewer did an amazing good with the characters' personalities and developing the shown potential in each of them. The plot was great for this book because it is kicking off the series. This definitely has many elements in it, so any versatile reader can enjoy it with little or no boredom.

Plot: I was really eager to read this after the ending to Raphael. The last one left me wanting more of Raphael and Cyn. I was hesistant when I heard about a new vampire lord and a new character involved. The Cyn and Raphael romance did not falter and most of their scenes were...spicy! Along with the continuing romance, I did love the new vampire lord. He was so evil and tactless that I couldn't help but hate Jabril. His every step was only thought out for his benefit, even when it came to "friends". I wasn't too happy with some of the small characters.They seemed unnecessary to me and only used for the certain situation they were introduced in. Other than that, I loved the plot and thought it was a nice continuation on the characters and their lives.

Characters: Cyn - Cyn is a great heroine. She is able to carry herself, but she is trying to make up her mind about Raphael. I did like how she did think about Raphael and was heartbroken, but it didn't consume her thoughts. She had a job to do and she put her all into it.

Raphael - I couldn't get enough of him! He is so protective of Cyn, but yet is gentle and kind towards her. I loved when he would make up the dreams and hold her. I'm glad that he was in here, even when he physically wasn't.

Cover: I liked how it did have Jabril and Mirabelle were on the front. We've seen Cyn and Raphael, so it was nice to get a visual of the newcomers.

Overall Rating: I give this book a three out of four. I loved the book and the continuation on Raphael and Cyn, but there were some elements I could have done without. After reading the ending, I know the relationship status of Raphael and Cyn. However, I would still love more and see if they can still work with one another.

Review
Plot: Right off the bat, I knew that this book was going to have a unique plot. I've never thought about a feud between witches and vampires. Luckily, Mesina did an amazing job with it and actually made the feud seem possible. The penalties of witches and vampires mingling were harsh, but it made the plot more interesting. Because of the penalties, Lily thinks her parents are dead and she'll never see them again. Along with the feud, the history of the characters were very complex. Everything seemed to connect to one another. There were a few holes in some of the plots, but I let it go since I'm guessing this will be a continuing series. What you do learn from the first installment is a lot of secrets hidden from the characters, which shows that not many of the characters are purely good nor purely bad.

Characters: Lily - There are so many characters from the story that I will just stick with Lily. She is an awesome heroin because she's not used to the world she lives in and is slowly being shown the secrets of her family and world. She is a pretty powerful person because of her background, but she's not sure of what to do. However, by the end of the book, she's starting to grasp her purpose in life and what she needs to do to save the ones she loves.

Cover: Not the best cover, which is a shame since it's not giving the book any justice. It does show Lily, the main character, and her necklace. It doesn't show much about the plot either, which is also disappointing.

Overall Rating: I'm giving this book a three out of four. I loved the book and want to continue the series, but I was confused in some parts. There are some characters' purposes or history that I'm not fully clear on. But, hopefully, it clears it up in the next book. I'd give this book a try, it's very intriguing and unique.

Plot: The book centers around the investigation of a female vampire gone missing. Cyn is called in for the job and I'm glad she was. Instantly, you see the attraction between Cyn and Raphael. Cyn is hesitant when she notices the attraction because she doesn't know if she is truly attracted to him or if he is causing her to be. I was curious too since that is one of his strengths. However, as I read through the book, I saw that Raphael was falling for her...and hard. At first, I questioned how a vampire lord who could have anyone would pick Cyn. Cyn is very beautiful, smart, and powerful, but wouldn't he want someone who was equally his rank and a vampire? But, I did see that he was intrigued by Cyn and was attracted to her. Along with the constant lust and passion, there is the finding of Alexandra, who is missing. The climax was fast-paced and it did finish pretty quickly, but was very logical.

Characters: Cyn-I have seen her character before. The strong heroine who has snappy comments and isn't ready for a relationship. I can say that I do love those types of characters because it's a different take on the classic heroine. They don't intend to fall in love, but once they do, they can't see how they lived without it. She is a very great character that I want to see more of.
Raphael-Very sexy and smooth. He always knows what to say and how to say it. I loved when he came into each scene and when we got the chance to see his history. He's misunderstood and shows little emotion. I loved the scene where he was thinking about Cyn after she was injured. He was so sensitive and gentle, it was hard to think he was a vampire lord.

Cover: I am glad that they gave a snippet of what Raphael looked like. I'm not sure if the girl on the cover is supposed to be Cyn. If it is, I was thinking her hair would be longer, but it is just a model.

Overall Rating: I give this book three nail polishes. I loved this book and am craving for more. There are some situations I could have predicted, but give this book a try. If you are a huge Adrian Phoenix fan, this is a book you need to read!

Review
Plot: I love this series from Adrian Phoenix. Ever since reading Rush of Wings, I always had a little soft spot for Cajun. I'm glad to say that In the Blood has made an amazing sequel. I loved how the book didn't revolved around Heather's and Dante's relationship. There was enough romance to keep your heart singing, but, at the same time, it wasn't like Adrian tried to act like that was the only important issue. She flipped to each character to keep you updated on what was happening with each. I'm glad she uses third-person for the series because it makes it that much easier. (Plus, the location titles help a bunch.) I like this series mostly because the romance scenes are so...sentimental and rare that when they show up, it lasts you through the mystery and action. The ending will definitely have you pumped for the third installment.

Characters: Heather-Heather is a admirable heroine. She worries not only about Dante, but her sister and friends. She doesn't keep her mind focused on Dante, but it does take up most of her thoughts. That's not a bad thing though. Both of them have had so much drama and struggling in their lives and it's nice to see that they found someone to go to.
Dante-I almost couldn't bare Dante's pain. I felt so bad that he was in constant pain. It's hard to read how much pain he's in. When it's not a migrane, it's a seizure. It keeps going and all I want is peace for him. And, then the three or four groups who want him fo their own selfish reasons? Angered me. I just want him to find peace. Hopefully, he does soon.

Cover: I love the covers for these. I wish their was more going on in this one, but it is pretty nonetheless.

Overall Rating: I give this book a four out of four. I loved this book and can't wait to read the rest of the series. If I had to pick one flaw, I craved for more romance. Yes, it does last you, but sometimes you want that little peck or beautiful "say nothings." However, every time Heather and Dante woke up they asked about each other. If you love romance and mystery, I think that this is a good adult series for vampire and romance lovers.

Plot: I went into the book with a clear head. I heard good things about the book, but, for me, it did resonate when I read it. It was way too hard to get through this book. I dreaded reading it. The plot was good and the writing was amazing, but it was dragging. The one thing that frustrated me with this book is that they wouldn't say what he is! Right when I got to around page 150, I had to stop. They still did not reveal what he was and I couldn't take anymore of it. I think that if I knew what he was from the beginning, I would have enjoyed the book more and understood what was going on. They kept dragging about how sick Mackie was and what he was, but never actually said it soon enough. I had to find out from spoiler sites what he was.

Characters: Mackie-He was definitely a great character. He was going through immense pain and didn't know his true self while everyone knew it. It was nice to see a character who was still isolated even though he had friends, but also had a life for the most part. Excluding his personality, I felt like Mackie was a little cliche. He liked the popular girl, but then started liking the outcast. Been there, read that. And, he kept dwelling in his pain and what he was. I know that is the key to the book, but it was hard to read over 300 pages about a guy who doesn't like their life.

Cover: The cover was what mainly pulled me in. I always thought (still do!) that this cover was extremely gorgeous and interesting. It's not every day you see a baby cradle with weapons hanging over it. This cover is undeniably one of the best I've seen.

Overall Rating: I give this book a two out of four. Before you boo me, I got really frustrated with this book. Now that I have found out what he is, I will probably go back to this book. Right now, I will give this book a two out of four, but I promise I will give this book one more shot in the future, but I don't know when. Probably when I go on a road trip or have spare time, but, for now, I'm done with it.

Review
Plot: I do love me a good fallen angel book. This one is definitely a different take on fallen angels. I was confused with how Olivia was a fallen angel as well as a vampire. I didn't understand how both affected each other. They also never really went into deep details into the angels fell. They give just a little insight throughout the book, but nothing very deep. Along with the lack of detail or why some things were the way they were, the romance was very....gradual. And, no, not gradual as in, they kissed on the fifth date. Gradual as in they didn't even meet until around page 100. To me, that's too long for a romance to beign, let alone the two main characters meet! I had to drag myself to keep on reading. I

swear, if they didn't mention that there was any romance in here, I would have closed the book at page 50. The writing was written elegantly and I loved how White described everything, but I didn't like how things were described for two pages.

Characters: Olivia-She was a very strong and brave character. She was used to the life she had, but she wanted more. I loved how she was able to adapt to her growing love for Dominic. Olivia was definitely a character I would like to see more of.
Dominic-I loved reading Dominic's parts actually. He was so determined to believe everything wasn't true, including who he really was. He was very intelligent and I loved his growing feelings for Olivia as well.

Cover: The cover is nicely done. I'm glad they made the girl actually look like Olivia. The dark hair and they even had one of the outfits she wore in the book. However, I don't understand the sword. There wasn't really any sword or even that much fighting in the book, so I was a little confused.

Overall Rating: I will give this book a three out of four. The book was very well written and the characters developed throughout the book, but sometimes I would have to reread some passages because of the writing. I will say that if you are a fan of Anne Rice, read this book. It has much more than just romance and gives a new take on fallen angels.

Review: I gave this book a chance a few months back, but couldn't finish it. For some reason I just couldn't get into it. Then, a few weeks ago, I decided it was time to give Marked one more try. At first, I could see why I couldn't get into it, but as I read deeper and deeper into the book, I really go into it.

I loved the different characters, including Damien and Stevie Rae. They help Zoey no matter what and bring insight when Zoey is lost. I feel like they will continue to be there for Zoey and are good characters who seem to develop through Marked.

I loved Zoey because she was a real main character. She is realistic because she makes mistakes, but she recognizes them and tries to make them right. She's not always nice, but not always mean. She is a breath of fresh air because she possesses great powers but she doesn't know how to use. However, she tries her best to grasp them with the help of her friends and her grandmother.

The plot, I think, was a great start for the series. It wasn't too intense, but not just about meeting the characters. I felt like the ending of the book left me off with a good cliff-hanger that makes me want to continue reading the series, but wrapped up Marked so it can be a good stand alone book in the series. However, I feel like the Cast team describe things and people way too immensely. There would be paragraphs just describing a building or certain event going on. I like when people over do it than under do it, but I couldn't get into those parts when they were describing things.

All in all, I give this book a three out of four because I truly did love the characters and the plot to Marked, but the describing was a little too much for me.

I finally finished! After a long two weeks of trying to read this and being busy, I have finally finished this lovely novella. Stephenie Meyer does an amazing job again, like always. She gives such descriptive and poetic detail that you can picture what is going on without it acctually being a movie. The book gives insight into a regular newborn's mind. You get the mind workings of a intelligent newborn but she still has the instincts as any other newborn. Just think blood and nothing else. Bree looks out to give the reader an also generic view of a newborn army. Constant fighting, tearing apart of others, killing of one another, only newborn instincts, and oblivious to the

obvious. Of course, along with fighting, Meyer gives a small romance in this novella. Mostly between Bree and her new friend, Diego. (The other being between Victoria and Riley...sort of.) I will not say what

happens between them but if you know the ending to Eclipse, you can see where this story leads to. I loved this book a lot, it gives all the genres I love: horror, romance, action/adventure, comedy. I recommend anyone who loves the Twilight Saga or even

 just vampires to read this because it is more vampy than Twilight was because of the newborns. However, there is another character in here that does survive (I will not say who), who I think should have a story of SOME kind or runs into the Cullens in Breaking Dawn. It would have been a great way to weave that person back in there and see why they acted the way they did and how they got to be the way they are. But, that's my personal opinion. Here are just two quotes about Bree talking about Diego that I absolutely loved!

"Diego grinned at me, his face beautiful with light, and suddenly, with a deep lurch in my stomach, I realized that the whole BFF thing was way off the mark. It was just that fast....But even though Diego looked like his normal self again -not made of blazing light anyway- I knew he would never look the same to me. That tingly sensation in the pit of my stomach was still there. I had a feeling it would be there permanently." -Bree talking about falling in love with Diego

"Bree: You know, I don't remember much, but I do remember thinking there was nothing more powerful on this planet than just plain old hunger. Turns out, thirst is worst.

I give this book a four out of four for excellent writing and grammar, and the plotline. Even though I wished it ended in a certain way instead of the way it did, I still loved the book and recommend all the Twilight lovers and vampire lovers to read this book. It is a short and good read, even though it took me two weeks, and watch Eclipse.
P.S. I wished they would ahve put Diego into the movie so I could get a visual of what he might have looked like because it was hard to imagine him.  Plus, I wanted Bree to have a little romance in the movie, she seemed scared constantly in the movie.

Vampire Academy Review

Along with reading Twilight Graphic Novel last weekend, I read the first book of Vampire Academy. I read the rest of the books but never got the chance to actually read the first book.

I will say that this was an awesome book! I loved Rose to death, even though I didn't agree with her choices all the time. Richelle did an amazing job with having Lissa progress to this monster throughout the book was great because you don't expect someone that gentle to become that firece. I did love, however, the love between Rose and Dimitri grow, I always wanted them to be together and the way that it progressed to finale in the climax was awesome. Lissa and Christian was a little random but I still loved their budding romance throughout the book.

The climax was a little disappointing but you did get some answers in the book that you've been wanting to know. I wished the climax was a little more action-y but you can't have EVERYTHING!

I loved this book though and I'll give it a 4 out of 4 black nail polishes because I love this series to death and all the characters are absolutely fab-U-lous!

Okay, so I've read the WHOLE first part of City of Bones and I'm back with you all to get this review on the road.
First off, we have to review what exactly happened. So, Clary and her best friend, Simon, go off to Pandemonium where Clary witnesses a murder by Jace, Isabelle, and Alec. It would have been better if one: someone else would have seen, two: the guy they killed wasn't a demon, and three: that they weren't all Shadowhunters. She get's in a fight with her mom the next day because her mom wants them to move out to the country for the rest of the summer. Her mom's best friend, Luke, leaves because he doesn't want to stay in the argument...apparently. Clary leaves with Simon to go to his band mate's poetry slam. She sees Jace there and follows him once he leaves. Her mother then calls and tells her she loves her and not to come home, then she hangs up. Clary, of course, goes back to her apartment where the light is out in the front but still she moves on. Another demon tries to kill her but she kills it by jabbing it in the throat with a Sensor she stole from Jace. She is hurt and Jace rescues her and takes her back to a Cathedral where it is invisible but still in the city. I think. She recovers but once to go back to her apartment to see what's left. Hodge, the leader of Jace and the others, decides it's okay for her to go, but only with Jace along with her. She reluctantly agrees and they go off to her apartment. They run into a giant who tries and kill Jace and Clary but Jace soon kills him. Dorothea, Clary's apartment neighbor, sees the kill and seems to know some stuff about the Downworld and Shawdowhunters. She tells them to come in and have some tea where they disect Jace's tea leaves and soon go in to another dimension. Jace and Clary leave and go to Luke's house to see if they can get information. They run into Simon who tells them that he's been trying to look for Clary for the past couple of days and went to Luke's to see what's up but he didn't tell a whole lot. Simon also says he saw Luke packing up weapons into a duffel bag. They sneak into Luke's house but find out his real name is Lucian and that he knows where Clary's mom went and why. He tells two other people, Blackwell and Pangborn, that he's getting out of town and laying low. However, Blackwell and Pangborn are the ones who killed Jace's father. They go back to the Institute (with Simon) and tell Hodge everything as Simon drools over Isabelle. Jace never tells Hodge about B & P. Hodge tells Jace and Clary that he was in the Circle as well as the Lightwoods (Isabelle's family) and a couple others that they know. Hodge says that Valentine lead the group. Clary asks what does that have to do with her mother and Hodge replies that "because she was Valentine's wife."

Okay, I've got goosebumps! I would have never assumed Valentine was her mother's HUSBAND until the last page! I stood back and had to say aloud a "Whaaaaat?!" I mean, how could you not?!
Besides that, Jace and Clary's relationship seems to be budding. I love Jace because he's tough and it truly seems like he wants to be with her in some ways. Like the way he saved her and defends her and all that. It's cute. However, I never liked Simon surprisingly. I would have expected it to be the other way around but I can't STAND Simon. He's so sarcastic and we all know what he was going to tell Clary during the Poetry Slam, that he likes her, but what a way to show it by drooling over the most obviously beautiful girl! So, Simon is not good in my books, as of now!
I am sort of confused with the Shadowhunters, the Downworlders, and what Valentine is trying to do but I think I'll grasp it by the end of this book.
Right now, I do like this series, it doesn't have vampires or werewolves...well, they just mention them, but it's a good book series that doesn't need vampire sor werewolves to be good. I love the first section to death!

Tales of an Urban Werewolf: Book 3, Leader of the Pack--Chapters 20-43

I took this weekend to read the rest of this book and was extremely excited and hopeful for a fourth book in the series!

After telling Heath that she was a werewolf, Sophie left her office to meet up with Tom to go to the Howl to see what the verdic of her father, Luc Garou, would be. Tom comes over to pick her up and even though Sophie is self-concious, Tom says she looks amazing! Hidden desire, I can smell it! When Sophie has to go to the bathroom at the Howl, she retreats to a house that looks like a barn and walks into the bathroom where she starts hearing Boris and Dudley, Elena's henchmen, talk about Luc being framed. WHen Elena enters her house, she cataches Sophie on the toilet and quickly closes the door. Sophie, pretending to be a Swedish werewolf named Inga from Minnesota, says she wasn't listening and just needed to go to the bathroom when Elena questions her. Sophie is almost caught because she did not take a pill that hides her scent but Tom quickly saves her and takes her into the trees so they can talk in private. While Sophie tells Tom of what she heard, a thick tree branch cracks and almost smashes them. Once the meeting begins, matings and alpha positions, Elena's mostly, are presented and after is pack alliances. Before they convict three werewolves how have been murdering humans of being guilty and bring out Luc. Jean-Louis, the alpha for the Louisiana pack, tells Wolfgang that he will not ally with them until they kill Luc. Once Tom and Sophie leave the Howl to go to Georges', a friend who could help Luc, hotel room. When Sophie goes to his room, with Tom in the lobby, Sophie is attacked by two werewolves who smell like pleather. It is Boris and Dudley. She turns into a wolf and starts to fight back, Tom turns into one too and helps Sophie. When Tom and Sophie knock the "pleather boys" out, they take them into Georges' hotel bathroom and find Georges is dead. After handling the hotel staff, flirting, and waking up one of the pleather boys, Boris tells Sophie and Tom that Elena would take over the Houston pack once she was co-alpha with the help of the Louisiana pack. She would have Wolfgang "taken care of" and have Grenier, the man who Luc was accused of killing, as her co-alpha. After telling Boris to take care of cleaning up and to take the stand for Luc, Tom and Sophie leave to go to her mom's spell shop, Sit A Spell. Tom and Sophie talk alone and Tom tells her that he felt something when they first met in her mother's shop. He countersback with his comment by saying it doesn't matter because he is with Lindsey and she is with Mark. While Sophie waits for Mark to come see her so they can try to bust out her dad, she trys looking up Ashmodei in one of her mother's books. She comes up with nothing until her mom looks up a different form of the word and reads the description. Ashmodei is the demon of lust, Sophie puts two and two together and fins out that Mark is a demon. Sophie's mom gives her a bag of salt to help fend off Mark is he tries and attack her. Once she meets Mark, they get their mack on and Sophie finally asks Mark why he is so protective of her and what he is. When she questions him about why he's jealous of Tom and not Heath, he tells her that he had another demon, Lillith, distract Heath as a woman named Miranda. Once they get to the garden cottage, Mark tells Sophie that she has to chose if she doesn't want her father broken out or if she does, she will have to become Mark's follower and only submit to him. She declines and fends him off with the bag of salt. When Sophie tries to break her father out, he tells her to leave him before they kill her to, she reluctantly leaves and goes back to her mother's shop. At the office the next day, Heath asks Sophie if there is any way he can go to the Howl to defend her father. She mentions that the only way is if he's a werewolf. Lindsey comes up with an idea to let Sophie turn him into a werewolf and if he likes it he can stay as one and if he doesn't Tom can turn him back into a human. Sophie sadly agrees and has her blood drawn and puts it into Heath. He is turned into a werewolf and lindsey looks at the extra syringes sadly. Sophie waves her off and tells her she can, Lindsey quickly turns herself into a werewolf as well. Sophie tells Heath about Miranda being a demon and he says that he broke up with her anyways. At the trial, Tom steps up to the stand where Meath is Luc's lawyer. Tom tells everything Boris had said to him and Sophie because Boris was nowhere to be found at the trial. Once Tom is done, he threatens Wolfgang that if he doesn't leave Luc off, he will feel the wrath of the gods. After the threat, Luc challenges Wolfgang to a fight that if he wins, he is innocent. As the two of them fight (in wolf form), Sophie sees Mark in the bushes. Tom tells Mark to go away and Sophie declines again Mark's offer. Luc wins the fight and kills Wolfgang by ripping out his throat. Once Luc says that Sophie will become alpha of the Houston pack because he is already the alpha of the Paris pack, Elena attacks Sophie. Sophie struggles but quickly rips out her throat out as well. When Sophie wakes up in her old teenage bed at her mom's shop, Tom kisses her before leaving and learns that Lindsey and Heath are together, and still werewolves. Am I the only one that saw that coming? When her mother comes in, she wants to try to get Mark's ring off but quickly discovers that it isn't there anymore. They all go back to where the Howl was at and try to look for Mark's ring. They come up with nothing and Tom and Sophie walk back to their car where Sophie quickly asks Tom if he could be her co-alpha. He says it is a definite maybe. Sophie has quit her job to become the alpha. The book leaves off with Sophie waking up in Tom's arms and goes to the bathroom because she feels a presence. She finds Mark's ring on the counter and wants to flush it but reluctantly folds it up into a washcloth and puts it away and heads back to bed...and Tom.

I've checked out the author's website and saw that all the information is not updated, so I don't know if there will be a fourth book in the series but hopefully some news will come up!

I give this book four nail polishes with the twist and turns and the all out cliffhanger at the end!

Tales of an Urban Werewolf: Leader of the Pack, Book 3--Chapters 6-19

After reading the first few chapters, I decided to read a tad more so I can post again with a better chunk of the book done. A tad of the book for me was pages 47-166. So, here it goes. After reading about Sophie talking with her dad in the "garden cottage", the sixth chapter has Elena being the person who makes her way in to the cottage and kick Mark, Sophie, and Tom out. Sophie wants to talk with Wolfgang to see if there's anyway of getting her dad off deathrow. Obviously, that isn't the case seeing how it was talked about way too early. She leaves the Howl angry because of her father's attitude and Wolfgang's rejection. She decides to go undercover to see if there might have been another suspect that could have killed Charles. She dyes her hair black with temporary dye and becomes a Swedish werewolf from Minnesota named Inga. Sophie and Tom are supposedly together at the Howl because Tom seems to always be with women during the Howl, which opens up curiosity for Sophie. Once they arrive from the Howl, Sophie tries to scope out Charles' widowed lover, Kayla. Tom introduces Sophie to Kayla and leaves them to talk. Sophie tries to act innocent as though she does not know that Kayla's Charles was murdered and scoop out information. Sophie does slip up with her "life" but gets out of it without any questioning from anyone. After talking with a guy named Anthony and Kayla, she still comes up with the same conclusion: her father's guilty. Tom and her brief information with one another while going to the "changing tents", where werewolves transform and get ready for the hunt. When Sophie trnasforms, because of the hair dye, she comes out with a big tuft of black hair on the top of her head. Soon the hunt starts and Sophie does a little hunting before coming upon the "cottage" and transform to talk to her father. The door is locked with no guards around, so she climbs through a window to get into the "cottage". Her father is still tied up and still jokes about Sophie's appearance. After jokes, Sophie and Luc talk about why he had a scratch on his face when he entered the restaurant the other night. Luc counters back, by telling the truth, saying that he ran into Charles completely by coincidence and Charles got a good hit on him. He says he surely wouldn't let a blow like that go without respond, once Sophie asks, he says that he gave Charles a couple blows before moving on. Sophie and hium go through the night and Luc mentions that Charles smelled like he just...well, you understand. Sophie gets the idea of a jealous lover for the murderer. After Luc tries to persuade Sophie to take over the Houston pack and why he abandoned Sophie and her mother, Sophie slips out of the window. She hurries to transform and runs across a deer, she attacks along with two other werewolves, Elena and Wolfgang. The two of them walk away with their noses in the air. Tom is surely disappointed and brings Sophie back home. He tells her he will try and fix it tomorrow and call ehr if anything happens. The next day at her office, she runs into Georges, a very close friend to Luc. She doesn't tell him what's going on but gives him a very vague reason as to why he is at the Howl, she promises to meet him later and talk. That night, Sophie has a date with Mark at the same place where Luc and her had dinner before. She doesn't like it but endures it for Mark's sake. Soon Tom calls with news, they both agree to meet back at her apartment in an hour. Mark and her head to her apartment where they are alone for a few minutes before Tom gets to the door. His leg is torn up with gravel stick into it. His clothes are ripped every which way from his motorcycle getting into a said "oil slick". He asks to go to the bathroom to clean himself off and for pills and scotch. While Sophie tends to him, Mark stands idly by, not even caring. Once Sophie and Mark are alone, Mark does some sort of magic and tells her to call him, Ash, after she asked if they could be romantic another time. They speak the full name, Ashmodei, and kiss passionately before Mark leaves Sophie by saying "I will accede your request but remember that you belong to me." It would have been romantic if it wasn't for Sophie's ring heating up and the small blue flame in his eyes. (He's getting a little creepy to me.) When Tom emerges from the bathroom, Sophie and him have a discussion about his past life. He mentions of an old lover, Beate, from Norway that ended up with his brother and how he stepped down from becoming Aplha because one) he didn't want the title and 2) because he did not want to kill his brother. He also mentions that his grudge with the Garous is that Sophie's uncle had killed his sister a long time ago. After a few intense gazes and a hint of interest in Sophie, Tom leaves to go home after giving Sophie the werewolf code intitled Codex Werwolfarius. Sophie is left with only a couple days instead of a week to help get her father out of his sentence. The next day, while Lindsey and Sophie talk about the book and the trial, Heath (Sophie's ex) barges into her office. He demands an explanation of the trial and how he is concerned about her. When Heath sees the book laying in Lindsey's lap, he snatches it and flips through it. After a few uneasy questions, Sophie comes out and tells Heath that her father's a werewolf. He puts two and two together and sees that Sophie is a werewolf too. Sophie gives the lowdown on what's happening and Heath and Lindsey ask to have a copy of the Code. When Sophie agrees to get the copies, Heath tells her that after the trial, he helps them with because he is an attorney, he tells her they will defintely talk about this new discovery. The chapter leaves off with Sophie closing the door on Heath and Lindsey.

Love the book so far, which it didn't move so fast with all this information, but a great read so far. I'll read more and keep you all updated.

Tales of an Urban Werewolf, Book 3: Leader of the Pack--Chapters 1-5

Okay, so after thorough searching and being in the library for weeks, I finally found the third installment to the Tales of an Urban Werewolf series. I was super excited once I found MacInerney on the shelf!
Synopsis:
So in addition to not growing up in a pack, Sophie's natural talent of shielding herself has enabled her live right under the noses of the Houston pack of werewolves for most of her natural life. This has come with its advantages and disadvantages. The disadvantage being that when she is finally discovered by a rogue packette, and a werewolf enforcer, she is thrust into a series of events that she won't be able to wiggle out of.

Leader of the Pack is the third in this urban werewolf series and usually in the third book there is a big payoff. In On the Prowl, readers were left off with wondering exactly who and what Mark was. Was he some type of demon or spirit? Perhaps both. Wondering if Tom Fenris and Sophie were ever going to make a love connection. Wondering if the mission she completed would get her out of owing any allegiance to the Houston pack.
We see more development in Mark, Tom, Lindsey's and Heath's character and overall that makes them more interesting in relation to Sophie. And the introduction of Sophie's absent father who is now on trial by the Houston pack plunges her and her friends into new territory of pack politics and a battle for succession, which has a surprisingly satisfying ending.

The first five chapters of the book seemed somewhat rushed to me. One minute Sophie's reviewing what happened in her past (the second book of ther series) to another she already met her dad! I think MacInerney really rushed into having us meet Sophie's dad, Luc Garou! Frnech name, and by the description, he seems sexy! (Immortality, peeps!) But, I did really like Sophie and Mark's relationship. Mark is really protective to Sophie, which I don't know what Sophie's complaining about, and they're getting their mack on! But, I don't understand, you sleep with someone who you don't even know what they are but you don't like when they get protective over you? That seems a little stupid seeing as how he's dating you and he's a guy! Of course, he's going to be protective over you because he must really care about you! And, when Mark says that Sophie's his, that's so romantic but I don't get why Sophie finds that weird. I mean, yes, they are just now starting to date but you slept with the guy and took a ring from him and say what weird creature he was. I would say that you guys are past the first few stages of the relationship. Meeting Luc Garou was awesome, he is said to has red hair that's kind of like Shane Brolly's hair in Underworld. He has the golden eyes and is very tall. He is said to be a ladies' man, charming, and extremely handsome. When Sophie is at a romantic date with Mark, Lindsey (Sophie's best friend) calls Sophie about her dad being accused of murder at the Howl, a gathering of werewolves. I liked the ending of the chapter with the sudden gasp from Lindsey's news. Great first chapters of the book though, can't wait for more. I'm on the seventh chapter so I'll be updating periodically.

Review: Blood Promise (Vampire Academy #4) by Richelle Mead

After reading all the other four books, I loved this one the most. The book is set after Rose Hathaway has just killed way too many Strigoi (bad vampires) that she has a special tatto for it. Even though she is a hero to her school, St. Vladmir's Academy, she has lost the love of her life, Dimitri. He has become a Strigoi in the mix of all the fights the school encountered. Rose drops out of school and leaves her best friend, Lissa, behind to search for him. She goes back to his hometown, Baia, to search for him and kill him like they promised each other they would do if the other became a Strigoi because they both rather die than become evil. But, when faced with the decision to kill him or join him, Rose is faced with the biggest decision of her life.
I bought this book because I just fell in love with the series. I read this in less than a week because I couldn't put it down. Te beginning ran a little slow with Rose going through the streets of Russia and you were lost as to why she was trying to find a town full of dhampirs when she should be looking for Strigoi but as the story goes on, you start relizing she's looking for Dimitri's family. I did like the new character, Sydney, even though she was a tad bit important to the story, she was a good addition to the story. The other characters like Mark, who is shadow-kissed, and Oskana, who is a spirit user. They were good assets to the story along with a man named Abe, or Ibrahim (if that helps you Academy fans out). I won't tell you why he is important but it will come as a shock to you when you find out. Along with Rose's search for Dimitri and the new characters, the old ones are all still in there because of Rose's looks through Lissa's eyes once in awhile. The other problems at the Academy are really great, they stir even more troubles for Rose than she already has but they seem so...random. When Lissa is controlled by a girl named Avery who came here for "vacation" is very random, I didn't see the need to go that far with that kind of thing. I rather see Viktor come back into the story or another Strigoi killing or Lissa going into a deep depression because Rose left and start back her...cutting. Those seem very logical and safe to do but the problems Lissa faces are random and make you sort of resent her. Since she is being controlled by Avery, I see why she's being that way but you do resent her when she's rude to Jill and Christian.
The climax to the story was great, the fight between Rose and Dimitri wass heartbreaking along with suspenseful. When Rose rather commit suicide than have Dimitri kill her, well I was sort of on her side. She seemed so determined or it and the conversation before Dimitri "dies" was very jaw dropping.
The ending was a great cliff hanger for the next book. I can not wait for Spirit Bound! I give this book four out of four black nail polishes and look below to see Spirit Bound's sypnosis and cover!
