Vampire Kisses 7: Love Bites Review

As a mortal girl dating a vampire, Raven knows that love isn't always easy. Now that Alexander's parents have returned to Romania, Raven and her dreamy vampire boyfriend are happy to resume their cryptic romance.

But soon another visitor comes knocking: Sebastian, Alexander's best friend, arrives for a stay at the mansion. At first Raven is wary, then thrilled—this is the perfect chance to learn more about her darkly handsome boyfriend and his past. Raven has been wondering whether Alexander will ever bite her and make their love immortal, and Sebastian could be her guide to the love habits of Alexander and his kind. But when Sebastian falls for a particular Dullsvillian, will another mortal beat Raven to the bite?

With suspense, danger, and a fabulous vampire party, this seventh book in the bestselling Vampire Kisses series continues the exciting nocturnal romance of Raven and Alexander. Amazon

If any of you guys have been reading my blog, you know I am of a big fan of Vampire Kisses...and Ellen Schreiber! Finally, I have read the book I have been longing to read.

So, I read the book and I can honestly say, I was very pleased! With the seventh installment in the series, Raven and her hottie McHottikins of a boyfriend are faced with the biggest problem since Jagger...Alexander's best friend. Sebastian was a serious fresh of breath of air. He gives a complete new twist on the town of Dullsville. He is impulsive and immatue, which gave the story new insight. He falls in love with a certain someone and is slightly...stalkerish, to the point where I was even getting fed up with it! I could truly see Sebastian as a permanent fixture in the series if he just doesn't try to do anything stupid, like falling in love with the wrong person.

As for Alexander and Raven, I was surly disappointed. I wanted more romance, they have their major problems out of the way and they STILL can't be a couple together. They have to scrape together the only moments when Raven isn't in school, Alexander isn't sleeping or hanging with Sebastian, and they aren't trying to pry Sebastian away from his immature love sickness. I wanted more romance and obviously by the ending of this book, they aren't getting it any time soon.

Along with the love between Raven and Alexander being on hold, Raven's chances of being changed are as well. You will still be left with the question, Will Raven be changed?, hanging over your head. Was this a spoiler? If you read the series, not really. I'm slightly ticked off because I wanted some progression of one side to be enhanced throughout the series. Every book, Raven tells Alexander what it would be like for them and Alexander disagrees and it's left at that. I wanted something to be brought up in this book that Alexander was going to turn her or he was going to leave their relationship the way it was, she's fully ready to be changed.

So, I give this book a three out of four nail polishes because I loved the plot, the romance, and the characters but I wanted progression in the book and in the series and there was none of that in this book, I'm hoping Cryptic Cravings will set everything back in motion since Ellen Schreiber did say, on her official website, that:
"At this time, I am contracted for eight books. But who knows--I didn't think think there would be any after the first."
So, we'll have to see what happens in Cryptic Cravings, which is set to release in May 2011.
Peace and Fangs,
Alisha
